    • Lincoln has chosen the most able people and put them in charge, gathered them in his cabinet, even if they were enemies. He always maintained a balance between conservatives and radicals.
      He achieved a complete result on slavery through steps, not at once, shifting positions: at first he created consensus and then he stated the idea.
      There are no deviation from this policy in the 700 pages, but the book is worth reading it because just this short summary isn't enough to understand the figure without the countless episodes of his life.
